Proven Skincare Review: How This Skincare Routine Changed My Life

Proven Skincare Review: How This Skincare Routine Changed My Life

In my early twenties I was hit with a bought of adult acne that made just walking out of the house hard. I’d never been someone with much acne. I didn’t know how devastating it could be to not only your confidence, but your mental health. Just to take a walk outside or record a five minute video (content creator things), I’d slather on a bunch of foundation in hopes to cover it up. And let me tell you, I tried everything to get rid of it. Dermatologist; expensive topical treatments; dietary changes. But nothing worked. Until Proven. Here’s my full Proven Skincare review and why I cannot stop recommending this brand.

First off, why does it matter?

This is a blog dedicated to zero waste and sustainability, so you may be wondering why I’m talking about this topic. Here’s why: I tried so hard to find a ‘zero waste’ skincare option that rid me of my acne – and nothing worked.

I resisted going to the dermatologist for months because I didn’t want to use single-use products filled with harsh chemicals. But one of the zero waste products I tried literally cost me $300 and I still had squat to show for it.

After that I caved and went to a dermatologist. I tried his products for several months. Still, no luck. But you know where I drew the line? When he gave me a product that literally burnt my skin and said “if you kept using it, it would’ve probably worked.” Like…excuse me sir? Suffice it to say, I didn’t go back to him.

So I ask you – what’s more wasteful? Going through endless amount of product? Or finding one that works and sticking with it, even if it’s not necessarily ‘zero waste’?

Proven Skincare isn’t perfect but it is minimalist. It’s a fully personalized skincare routine with only three steps. Considering I’ve seen people use 10+ skincare products at once, I’d say Proven is definitely efficient!

And while some might say ‘get over it’ or ‘it’s just skin’ the truth of the matter is this: I’m a public figure. And people are (sadly) going to judge me on my appearance before I even speak. So having clear skin? Yes, it matters. It helps me show up to create content without worrying if I have a crater on my face.

But most importantly, I’m sharing this because anyone can struggle with acne. And if I can help someone out who’s as desperate as I was for a solution, that’s enough for me!

Is Proven eco-friendly?

While Proven may not be 100% zero waste, they do have some eco perks I’d like to highlight here.

  • Every formula is free of phthalates, parabens, SLS, formaldehyde, oxybenzone, oxtinoxate, and thousands more. They’ve banned over 2,800 ingredients from their products.
  • PETA animal-test free.
  • They avoid excess waste by focusing on minimal packaging (though I’d love to see them offer refills at some point).
  • Their shipping boxes and inserts are made from recycled materials and are 100% recyclable.
  • Since 2020, they’ve been restoring forests by partnering with Tree Sisters! For every PROVEN order that is shipped, they donate one tree.
  • Made in the USA in an FDA-approved factory.

These were taken on my old phone (which didn’t have the best camera), so the picture quality isn’t great. But I think you can get a decent feel for the difference Proven made!

My experience with Proven Skincare

Okay, so now that you get why I needed to find a skincare brand that works, let’s get personal and focus on my individual experience with this brand. Here’s my full Proven Skincare review!

What did you try?

I tried the 3-step subscription service that gets delivered every eight weeks.

Included in every order:

  • Personalized day moisturizer
  • Personalized cleanser
  • Personalized night cream
  • Fun surprise gifts, like lip balm or an ice roller

Here’s how my skincare routine goes:

  • I use my cleanser once in the morning and once at night (it helps remove my makeup too).
  • I apply the moisturizer (which has SPF) to my face every day – sometimes more than once if I’m going to be outside a lot.
  • Night cream gets applied before bed.

That’s it! As someone with no patience for a 10-step routine, I appreciate the simplicity of three products dearly.

My skin now without makeup or a filter. Yes, I do get a few blemishes here and there, especially when I’m PMSing. But it’s NOTHING compared to what was…

What did you think?

I’ve been using Proven Skincare since early 2021. It all started when I saw their AD on Facebook. They’d been on Shark Tank so I knew they were legit. I’d hit rock bottom and given up, conceding I’d have acne forever. Even my dermatologist had told me “I don’t know when your acne will go away.” Not very reassuring.

So, I went in on Proven, expecting it to fail. But it didn’t.

And I cannot get over the amount of time, effort and CARE Proven takes to crafting each formula. I took their 3-minute skincare quiz where they ask what my main concerns are (redness, fine lines, acne, sensitivity, etc.).

They created a formula specifically for my skincare needs, based on my concerns, even taking into account where I live (if I have hard or soft water, how humid it is, air quality – all things that can effect your skin on the daily).

Not even my dermatologist did that…

My 3-step routine arrived in a recycled cardboard box with minimal packaging. I got a slip of paper detailing the ingredients in each of the products.

By subscribing, I also get online access to a skincare expert I can ask questions to. And, I get personalized instructions for when/how to use my products.

I love how simple it is. I don’t have to worry I’m screwing up the order I put product on. It’s self explanatory: Cleanser (morning), moisturizer (day), cleanser (night), night cream (night).

And this is the most important part…it WORKED. Because I stuck with it. I was advised to keep doing this for at least 28 days to see results (~4 weeks/a month). And oh my god…what a difference in my skin it made.

I literally cried. Because the beautiful skin I knew was waiting underneath the acne had finally shown itself to me. And I had Proven to thank. I gained the confidence to leave the house without tons of foundation – if any. And to me? That is priceless.

So if you’re struggling with acne, or even want to reduce signs of aging, Proven is the place to look. I’ve been using it since 2021. That’s four years. And I don’t intend to stop any time soon.

Rating: 10/10

What do you think of Proven? Are you thinking of trying it out?
