Where do I get reusable cloth masks?

These masks are non-medical, reusable masks with ties, so be mindful of that.

Prints and colors will vary and you may get a variety of prints and colors, or ones that are all the same. They’re manufactured with fabric on hand, so they’re not able to customize anything.

The fabrics of the masks will vary, but they’re made out of tencel, viscose and cotton blends with polyester thread.

I really love the fact they offer the option to too. You’d be donating them to communities in need, including essential health care workers.

An eco-friendly mattress company that is pumping out organic cotton face masks with no plastic what so ever. You can choose between a 4 pack for adults or a 4 pack for children here.

I love the fact there’s no plastic in this mask what so ever. This means you can just cut the mask up and compost it at the end of its life.

There’s so much plastic being used and wasted – even more so nowadays. So I think it’s really important we limit our plastic consumption wherever we can. These masks sure help with that!

These masks have ties, so they’re a little different than what you might be used to. They also have incorporated an internal pocket neatly sewn at the bottom of the mask, should you choose to insert a filter (not included), such as a coffee filter. That’s completely optional.

4. Coalatree 

A shop that sells eco-friendly goods made from mostly recycled materials that is also creating reusable cloth masks. They design only one style – subtle pinstripes – which works for both men and women.

The masks are made from cotton, and they have spandex mask bands. This mask is designed to tie in the back of your head.

I love the fact they partnered with blacksmith USA, a local cut and sewing factory in Utah, to make masks from upcycled Coalatree materials. The masks are made in Salt Lake City and are supporting jobs in their hometown.

Even better, when you buy a mask from them, you give a mask. For every mask purchased, they will donate a mask to community members in need of masks. How cool is that?

These are my favorite places selling masks right now. I trust these stores and truly admire what it is they’re doing.

Personally, I’m such a noob when it comes to sewing. I wish I was better. It’s definitely a skill with room for improvement.

I also don’t possess a sewing machine, which would make this DIY mask tutorial a heck ton easier.

How do I wear and care for the reusable cloth masks?

• Wash your hands before putting on your mask and after removing it.
• Your mask should fit snuggly, but comfortably against your face.
• Make sure your ear loops are secure, or that your ties are adjusted properly.
• Your mask should allow for breathing without restriction.
• If worn for long periods of time, replace and/or wash your mask every 2 hours.
• It’s still best practice to not touch your face when wearing masks, so try not to mess with it once it’s on.

• Wash after each use.
• Machine wash hot, dry on high heat.
• If you are only able to wash by hand, do so with hot water and lather with soap for 20 seconds.
• Make sure your mask is fully dry before wearing it again.
  
  

In other words, please make sure you wash (and thoroughly dry) your masks after each use to keep them sanitary! Might be best to buy two masks for yourself so you always have one handy while the other is drying.

Pro tip: You can hang dry your masks by using hangers that have clips. That’s what I do! So simple and it uses less electricity. Even better if you can find a spot to hang them that gets sun.
